See me in action cosplaying as Homura in this video: [link]
Viriya is the pali term for persistence and energy exertion in Buddhist literature. It is a critical quality for Enlightenment. Homura is all about persistence, and she stops at nothing to achieve her goals. That's part of the reason why I like Homura as a character. She doesn't start off as being very likable, but her tenacity stands out.
Character: Homura Akemi Photographer: Cosplay made entirely by me, and modeled by me
Jack shot this picture with an ethereal feel in mind. I wanted to convey Homura as someone who transcended normal human beings. Her ability to excel at a lot of things, almost makes her seem super human. I think this photo definitely makes me look like a magical girl :3, and Jack caught a bit of motion blur for my spinning shield!
This costume was an interesting project. At first glance it looks easy enough, and technically wise it isn't hard to construct, but I have never worked with to much bias tape trimming before so this project was a great exercise in mitered corners. Because the design is so simple, it was imperative for me to keep everything very clean and well tailored. I love how this turned out, and the colours I chose for the fabrics worked really well.
My time shield is made from wonderflex, craft foam, and gears from a clock I cannibalized.
I custom sharpie dyed a grey wig, to get Homura's dark grey hair colour.
Congradulations for winning to cosplay portion of the Homura contest at ! You really did such a fantastic and lovely job portraying Homura! Keep up the good work!
