Finally! The photoshoot I always wanted to properly showcase this costume. I wore this to Otakuthon 2010, and we shot against some of Montreal's gorgeous architecture.
This was my first castlevania game, and I struggled so much on level 1. I made a promise that if I could beat the game, I would cosplay as Shanoa, because I truly believed this game was too hard for me. Lo and behold, this sadistic game had me swearing and stressed for many nights, but I eventually "vanquished the night" (Dracula ultimately). Then came the following up on my promise part...
It was my first time doing armor contoured to a female body (oh the curves!). Wonderflex was my material of choice, and it was carefully formed over a dressform wrapped in tinfoil (so that the heatgun wouldn't melt my dressform ). The hip armor and the thigh extensions of the boots are made from craft foam. The greaves are made of wonderflex.
The backless dress made attaching the armor a feat of creative engineering, and lots of fashion tape.
Overall, I'm extremely happy with the way this costume turned out.
All of the armor has been weathered, and it makes a big difference in the overall look!
The hardest part of this costume, was deciding on the right colours. I chose a rust colour for my lining, and I went with blackened bronze for the armor.
