It's cosplay crunch time! Anime North, the biggest Canadian anime convention, is sneaking up on me again and I'm already behind. I'm not sure if I'm going to plan something big. I really want to, but realistically it's April. I work full-time. I'm planning a wedding all of a sudden. Nope, probably not going to happen. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't bummed out because I've had a skit and costume I've been dreaming about for a year, but in order to do it right I have to give myself enough time.

As a result, I'm going to keep myself occupied with smaller cosplay projects! Now, you might be thinking "That makes no sense, why doesn't she just do one big project?" and I thought about that too, but I think it's about time I got a lot of smaller projects out of the way so I at least have SOMETHING NEW TO WEAR, than put all my eggs in one basket.


Thanks to Katsucon being scheduled so early in the year, I was motivated to finish Homura early on in 2012! The cosplay is complete as-is, but the best thing about Homura is the possibility for different variations. I ordered cheap red glasses off of ebay so I can be her moe version with the braids. I'm also working on getting a nice collection of weapons

You'll definitely see more of Homura this year


Last weekend I attended a theatre screening of Princess Mononoke. It is hands down my favourite Ghibli movie and I cosplayed as San for the costume contest. I was pretty surprised to place third, since my costume wasn't even finished XD but I'm not going to complain about that.

So progress on San continues, and I've completed the mask, fur cape, and am currently working on the fur hood and boots. I can't wait to take San out for a photoshoot!

This won't be an Anime North project, but after I posted up a picture of me in my San wig on Facebook, A LOT of people kept saying I looked like Yuna. So being the impressionable person that I am, I'm entertaining the idea of doing one of Yuna's X-2 dresspheres. I'm deciding between Gun Mage and White Mage at this point.


I was supposed to finish Ninian for Katsucon but was just shy of a few hours to fully complete it. Since then, I put Ninian on hold for more immediate projects, but it would be a good idea to finish that costume and get it off my plate (and get the fabric off my couch ha!)
